Yellowknife punches well above its weight when it comes to world-class events. Folk on the Rocks is one of the country's great music festivals and attracts some of the biggest names in Canadian music. In March, you'll love the Snowking Festival, featuring an ice palace and many winter activities. Don't forget, no matter when you're here, Yellowknife boasts the best nightlife North of 60.
Inuvik, Early January
An annual celebration of the return of the sun to the community. Bonfire and fireworks on the Saturday closest to the sunrise.
This event brings Yellowknife musicians together, throughout the month of February, for a great mid-winter music festival.

Part of the SnowKing Winter Festival. Come down to the castle for the 13th annual Frozen Dog Film Festival.

Formerly held as Caribou Carnival, the Long John Jamboree is held on Great Slave Lake in Yellowknife and features the De Beers Canada Inspired Ice Carving Championships as well as a variety of family friendly events.
The Annual Diavik 150 Canadian Championship Dog Derby will be held at the end of March in Yellowknife.
Mid April
Celebrate springtime on the Arctic coast. Exciting events and contests: snowmobile races, log sawing, harpoon throwing, drum dancing, igloo building and square dancing under the midnight sun.
Early May
First week in May, this festival features traditional events and celebration of Spring.

A long-standing highlight of the summer season. Tee off under the sun at midnight. Banquets and pro workshops. Lots of prizes.

Where music and culture meet community spirit. Lots of live performances at venues all around Yellowknife.
Mid July
Yellowknife’s own music festival takes the stage at Long Lake for a weekend of fine northern and international music, specialty food and arts and crafts.
Early July
Many types of aircraft dock in Old town for this event. Come down and view these aviation wonders. Many events and activities to take part in, including lakeside dining, a fly past, entertainers and more.

Every summer Old Town comes alive with multiple stages featuring local musicians, artist demonstrations, local vendors, public art projects, art workshops, Old Town art show, buskers, old time YK movie house, spoken word and poetry, grand prize draw, horse carriage rides, a children's area complete with bouncy castle, story telling, face painting, music and more.
